Conservative treatment approaches are a key pillar in the management of the most common arterial diseases: peripheral arterial disease (PAD, also known as “intermittent claudication”) and aneurysms. The goal is to reduce risk factors. In addition to quitting smoking, eating a healthy diet, and exercising regularly, medication is often necessary—to manage cholesterol, blood pressure, and, if applicable, diabetes. Anticoagulant medications are also required.
In cases of advanced PAD, or when conservative and medical treatments are insufficient, interventional or surgical procedures are necessary. When needed, we can draw on our extensive regional and national network to find the optimal treatment for each patient.
